Taking care of the Manatee

Manatees are so curious. They like to check out what is in their waters! They notice when something is new and remember too when something comes by that is familiar.Nevertheless, a free paint job in the process!
As plentiful as they seem in our canals in Key Largo, their #1 mortality comes from power boats. Boats must travel slowly around where manatees are found , too often their propellers have caused serious and too often fatal injuries.

Technically, people should not encourage manatees to be overly friendly to humans. The fact is, the manatees go out of their way to interact with you!
