Sun Bay Haven is growing in size

It all started with making a nice bedroom for my Mother's visit.  It had been Chanoch's office.  So out went the office, and in came the bed.  It just so happened that our neighbor was throwing out a BRASS Bed!   I was salivating:)  Home it came.  It lived in Sun Bay Haven for awhile until I took it up to my Brooklyn Emerson's House  NOw it is in the Golden Roost:)

Then we received a beautiful hand painted sink--I don't think I would have thought of buying it for SUn BAy Haven myself but it landed in my lap from another neighbor and, well, SUn BAy got a beautiful hand painted sink.

Now we are adding space to SUn BAy Haven,  she is growing another room.  The main room and the extra room.  Right now it is my piano room!  And then will move to our new place......need a floor first:)
The piano room will be good for just a single bed, and the efficiency cooking we will move to this area.  The dock's kitchen has now had three sinks.  Her first sink is now Sun Bay's garden sink.  It is much easier dealing with my orchids now.

Pergola magic!

Did you happen to notice the pergola on the dock? The nifty thing is what we used for making the pergola.

The other pergola is 'normal'.

Yes, we have a pergola in the front of the property as well.

The orchids need the protection from the sun. Which also makes it a perfect place for thinking and writing.

I also thought it would be the perfect spot to relax with a book, out of the sun's glare in the aroma of the orchids.

I don't seem to sit for too long......off on some other project.

Now, the project of the pergola on the dock........

You see, we had this old hobie- we used it as a float from which to jump into the water and ease getting out of the kayaks.

It started sinking......and sinking.........

We don't like wasting anything...after fruitless attempts to fix it, recycling was in order.

If not a boat ............?

The boys had the idea of.....yes, another pergola.

STep by step,

the boat converted to a plane and now flies happily above the dock providing shade. We never really use the big davits so they suspend the pergola.

How about some cold watermelon!

Places for Plants!

YIKES! Don't look!! This is an historic photo.

I repeat! historic! It is now filled with plants- palms, flowers, bushes, trees.
So keep reading to see her transformation.

Blue Keys haven just looked too stark to me....too much stone, not enough plants.

This is Florida after all. A place where tropical plants grow in front of your eyes- flowers bloom on a daily basis and basil grows like it was fed coffee!

In the center you can see the steps leading to SunBay Haven. When you walk out however, it was like walking into a void.

I like entrances to feel good- comforting -
ahhh, like you have arrived somewhere.

Good to know where you are going too.

The welcome/directional sign making went into production.

So in went the welcome sign, palm and flowers at her base.

and the pergola for the orchids' garden got done.

planters and fruit trees, herb garden, and vegetable patch. We were in full cement production!

The many plants we got all got planted!

It was more fun picking out the plants and marking where they have to go...

As you can see, one lovely guest is already trying it out!

It has been 6 months since these photos. When we planted them, they seemed big......now, looking at them here, they have grown beautifully!

Next will be passion flower vines.
